the Touchdowns - "Rookie
Phenom"
Independent
release
The Touchdowns’ Rookie Phenom
is a pretty basic EP. This not to say that it’s not good or enjoyable,
it’s just pretty simple verse-chorus-verse rock ‘n’ roll. It is,
however, catchy and fun.
There is a nice variation on the v-c-v song stylings, with songs like
"Teaparty In Hell," which is mellow and quiet - a contrast to the
raucous rock ‘n’ roll of the opening track, "Lemon Station." And "Rocky
15" falls nicely in the middle, going from loud to soft.
This is by no means an accomplished album, with occasionally flat
vocals and some awkward lyrics, but the Touchdowns’ shameless
enthusiasm and fun more than make up for the lack of musical
accomplishment.
